WEDO Mahjong. Do You?

Parlour & Porch is exploring a new Mahjong league, and we want to know who is ready to play.
There is only one real way to become a better Mahjong player: PLAY.
Play.
You can learn the rules, study the card, practice the Charleston, and talk through strategy—but confidence begins to grow when you sit down at the table and play regularly.
Over the past several months, approximately 20 people have completed beginner Mahjong classes at Parlour & Porch. Now we are considering the next step: creating a fun, welcoming Mahjong league for players who know the basics and are ready for more table time.
After experiencing the laughter, friendship, colorful style, and friendly competition of the Ocean Springs Mahjong Tournament, we came home thinking:
Why not bring some of that Mahjong fun to Wedowee?
We are now exploring the idea of launching the first WEDO Mahjong Play League at Parlour & Porch.
What We Are Considering
The proposed league would run for approximately two months and include:
- Five organized Mahjong play sessions
- Play scheduled every other week
- Elevated snacks at each gathering
- Fun door prizes
- A final Mahjong tournament brunch and social
The tournament winner would receive a complete Mahjong set, including:
- Mahjong tiles
- Playing mat
- Racks
- Carrying bag
The cost for the complete league experience would be $85 per player.
This would not be another beginner class. It would be an opportunity to use what you have learned, become more comfortable with the game, meet other players, and enjoy a little friendly competition along the way.
Players do not need to be experts. You simply need to understand the basics of American Mahjong and be ready to practice.
Possible League Schedules
We are considering several options:
- Second and fourth Mondays, 5:30–8:00 p.m.
- Second and fourth Tuesdays, 5:30–8:00 p.m.
- Second and fourth Wednesdays, 5:30–8:00 p.m.
- Second and fourth Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Before we begin planning dates, menus, prizes, table assignments, and tournament details, we need to know whether enough players are genuinely interested—and which schedule works best.
